About HYL

Henry Youth Lacrosse (HYL) is a Georgia-based non-profit youth sports association and 501(c)(3) charitable organization dedicated to growing youth lacrosse awareness, interest and participation in Henry County and surrounding areas.

Our Mission is simple: introduce more children in our community to the sport of lacrosse. Lacrosse is one of the fastest-growing youth sports in the U.S. (and has been for a few decades now). There are tremendous opportunities for children in the sport today – especially those who start their lacrosse journeys at a young age. We’re here to make sure children and their families know lacrosse exists, have an opportunity to try the sport while they are young, and have access to a program with teams they can be a part of – should they choose to play.

The Henry Youth Lacrosse Association Inc. (Henry Youth Lacrosse or HYL for short) was founded in July 2021 to serve as the official youth lacrosse association for Henry County, Georgia – including McDonough, Stockbridge, Locust Grove, Hampton, and surrounding areas. Prior to Henry Youth Lacrosse, Henry Lacrosse Association (HLA) served this need in our community. From 2007 to our incorporation of Henry Youth Lacrosse, HLA’s leadership team, volunteers, coaches, players and families established youth lacrosse in Henry County and built the foundation for the programs we now offer. We are grateful for the contributions of all who helped make HLA a success – many of whom continue to play a role in the ongoing success of our new program.

Today Henry Youth Lacrosse serves more than 100 youth players (and growing) who play on our Fall and Spring lacrosse teams and join us for our camps and clinics throughout the year. As the oldest sport in North America and one of the fastest-growing youth sports in the U.S. for the past few decades, lacrosse continues to grow in popularity in our community, and Henry Youth Lacrosse exists to support the growth of the sport in our area.

Our Mission

Henry Youth Lacrosse’s Mission is to grow the game of lacrosse in Henry County, with a focus on expanding youth participation for all boys and girls in Henry County, Georgia. To achieve this, we work to teach people about the game and what makes the sport unique and special. We want EVERYONE to know lacrosse is available in Henry County – and to provide opportunities for children to try the sport – and if they like it, to have the opportunity to play on our teams. We also work to remove barriers to improve access to the sport, including making sure children from low-income and/or minority households have equal opportunities to participate.

Our Values

We believe lacrosse is for everyone and embrace diversity, equity, and inclusion across all that we do as an organization.
We “Honor The Game” and respect the Native American origins of lacrosse and traditions of our sport that make lacrosse unique.
We believe in providing a safe, positive environment where children get equal attention and playing time while they learn the fundamentals of the game – while having fun playing the game.
Finally, we believe every child that participates in our programs should have the opportunity to reach their full potential and work hard to guide them through each stage of their lacrosse journey.

We Believe

Lacrosse Was Given to Indigenous Peoples by “The Creator” and was given to us by them: the game is special, with important historical and cultural significance and as such, whenever we pick up a stick, we must Honor the Game.
Lacrosse is for Everyone: where you are big or small, strong or weak, or fast or slow, there is a place for you on the lacrosse field. Anyone who wants to play is welcome and instantly becomes a brother or sister in our greater lacrosse family.
