About Henry Youth Lacrosse
Every child should have a chance to play lacrosse.
We started Henry Youth Lacrosse (HYL) because we believe every child should have a chance to play lacrosse while they are young. Why? Because lacrosse is A LOT of fun to play (as anyone who has tried lacrosse will tell you).
How do kids get to try lacrosse? Think about a sport you enjoy. How did you try the sport the first time? You might not remember, but the first time you swung a bat, tossed a football, or shot a basket, it was probably with a family member or friend – or maybe you played during recess or P.E. class at school.
What if nobody you know has ever played lacrosse? That’s common in the Southeast, where lacrosse isn’t as popular as it is in the Northeast or other parts of the country where the sport is growing fast.
That’s where HYL comes in. We run programs so children (and their families) can learn about lacrosse, have a chance to try it, and if they like it – provide them with an opportunity to play the game.
Lacrosse has become one of the fastest-growing, most-popular sports in the U.S. at the youth, high school, collegiate and professional levels. If you haven’t heard much about the sport, you will.
More games are available via television and streaming services than ever before, there’s a professional team in Georgia, and lacrosse will be an official sport at the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles. There’s never been a better time to play the game – and we hope you will give it a try.
What Is Lacrosse?
We believe everyone should know lacrosse exists and is an option for children in Henry County.
Try Lacrosse
Our Vision is that every child in Henry County will have the opportunity to try lacrosse while they are young.
Play Lacrosse
Our Mission is to ensure that any child who wants to play lacrosse has the ability to do so, removing any barriers that might otherwise prevent them from having this experience.
Realize Potential
Our Purpose is to help children who play with us to learn, grow, and succeed – helping them in their journey to realize their full potential on and off the field.
Henry Youth Lacrosse History
Henry Youth Lacrosse (HYL) started in the summer of 2021 as the latest iteration of our local youth lacrosse program. Prior to HYL, the Henry Lacrosse Association (HLA), built the foundation for youth lacrosse in Henry County. We are grateful for the work HLA did for many years, enabling us to build upon this foundation and serve our future generations of lacrosse players in our community.
Today, HYL is a Georgia-based nonprofit and 501(c)(3) charitable organization dedicated to increasing youth participation in lacrosse in and beyond Henry County, Georgia. On average, more than 80 boys and girls in grades K-8th participate in our Spring and Fall Seasons, Annual Youth Lacrosse Summer Camps, and ongoing lacrosse clinics we host throughout the year.
